X-country road trip - Signs

So my brother decides he is going to move to Utah with some friends.  He wanted his car with him.  So from DE to Utah is around 2200 miles, about 40 hours of driving, and the goal is to do it in 3 days. Well why not hop in and enjoy the ride....Never the less, May I mention that I am terrified of flying, however, I could not be happier to fly home vs driving.

Well this took a womping 15 minutes to get to.

Ohio has a city named Delaware, its probably bigger than our state...We're still #1

This says Indiana, I'm not as equipped as a tripod so at night my camera takes longer to take a picture and I have to admit its hard to stay so perfectly still.

I believe we went over the Mississippi River in this state.

Fancy sign for Missouri.

Had my bro get out of the car and take this picture. Because It's impossible to take any pictures at night, unless you are completely still.
Had to take a detour through Wyoming because our original course, I-70, had a unexpected blizzard and 4 feet of snow was just sitting on the road.  So, we decided to hop onto I-80 to Wyoming. We certainly had some obstacles in this state.

This says Welcome to Utah.  Can't read it because it was dark and I needed the flash and we were going about 80 mph. On the bottom you can kinda read "OLYMPIC WINTER GAMES - SALT LAKE 2002"

FUNNY SIGNS

This certainly made my day. So colorful.

I can only imagine the conversation...
A:So, where are you from?
B:Oh, I'm from Earth.
A:.....
I would totally give that person a stupid look, COULD YOU BE MORE SPECIFIC
I love how you were higher than this sign on the road and that the trees were partially covering it. No need to be ashamed to take this exit because no one knows why your possibly taking this exit
because they didn't see the sign.

That was a lie. But it was funny.

I'm curious to what kind of food they serve in this town...hm

Winter in the Mountains

Winter can be dark and eerie, but it has its moments and can be breath taking, beautiful and a camera to capture them.

Went out to Utah for my grandmother's remarriage.  It's always exciting to go to a place where its environment its totally different from where one is from.

That's my summer home, in the winter...

Gorgeous sunset shining over the mountains.

Bright sun, blue skies, a dusting of snow. Perfect day.

I ran up a hill that was 2 miles long. A hill? No, I ran up a mountain, it just happened to be paved with asphalt and aligned with houses. Not forgetting to mention the elevation is about 7,000 feet.
My cousin with her beautiful red hair. Nice contrast with the snow and I like the composition. I just wish the sign had something more interesting written on it.  And as you can see, Utah gets a bit of snow.

Abandoned House

So while I was running the other day I noticed a little house on a hill right next to limestone road in DE.  This is what I love best, explore.  The rush you get when going in somewhere you don't know what lies inside is so exhilarating.  Next day I thought I'd take a trip to this house, go inside, and bring my camera to document, oh yeah, and my knife, just incase I run into some unsuspecting visitors inside...

Broken ceiling window in the abandoned house. Plenty of things fell though like

Leaves, glass, dirt, whatever. Looked like this was a living room.  There was also a fireplace in the upper right and
Apparently no one was to go in or out of this house...through this door.
The attic.  Do I dare go up those riggidy toothpicks you call stairs to a room above the ceiling's structure which appeared to have been decaying for decades now.  I'll save that witch hunt for another day.  Maybe with someone, so if I fall through the ceiling or down the steps and get a piece of wood stuck through my leg or arm or back, some one will be there to help me out...I know, I think so positively.
Not sure what happened here but obviously long exposure and moving the camera around somewhere in the house.  Probably accidently pushed the button while I was just waving the camera around overlooking the shoulder for every creek and snap I heard...am I alone...?
This is a boarded up window I took in sepia mode and a darker exposure.  That was the only light source that I had in that room at the time.  In other rooms I had to use the flash from the camera as my light source...creepy to think about because that's exactly what the photographer was doing in a dark apartment in the horror film SAW just before that pig masked jigsaw kidnapped him.
I wasn't going into an "abandoned" house with boarded up windows, crushed beer cans in the yard with the chilly winter weather unarmed now.  Perfect spot to hang out and to get out of the wind if you have no real home to go too....I was actually hoping to get into a knife fight with a hobo, what an interesting tale that would have been.

Just chillin on the front porch of this eerie little house.  Black and white makes it all the more haunting.
And here is that light source from the outside that I had from that one room on the inside.  Exposure was a bit bright but in the end I thought it looked kinda neat.

Change of Scenery

Obviously I took these pics a few months ago where the woods were lush and vibrant instead of the desolate bareness we see in the brisk winters.  I was taking my dog for a walk at Brandywine Creed State Park. (favorite and hardest xc course I've ran in the high school days) It's a huge state park and I still haven't walked all the paths, I've been lost quite a few times however, not fun when the sun is setting and you don't know where you are.

sand dunes

I made this for a friend with some of that extra poster paper we had from our last project. Probably took a half an hour to make and an hour to print. God damn printers! I never understand them.  I did this all on illustrator which I'm very proud of  because I would choose photoshop any day over illustrator but I need the practice and it didn't come out half bad.
